About the Artist

About Me
My life, like my art, has been constantly changing, colourful, textured and full of joy! It’s about appreciation and gratitude. I am so grateful to have lived most of my life on islands. From this vantage point I have had a front row seat in the gallery that surrounds me; ever changing skies, moving water and the landscapes they inform.
God’s creative Spirit has motivated, and continues to guide, my artistic endeavours. My God is an incredible artist and teacher, so though I have had no formal art education I don’t consider myself “self-taught”.
Beginning my work career in nursing, at an early age my creative side kept surfacing in different forms, but fabric played a constant part in my artistic journey leading to the design of clothing and a clothing retail business (Island Comforts) almost 40 years ago. When the economic stress, and my husband’s work move necessitated closing the business, a desire to create art with fabric surfaced. Through this medium I endeavour to create art that will bring a sense of quiet peace or joyful hope to the viewer.
When I am not in my studio, you might find me enjoying family get-togethers around a campfire with grandchildren and great grandchildren, involved in a decorating project, exploring lakesides, with my husband, searching for interesting driftwood or rocks, and always the pursuit of inspirational photos for my next art project.
As I enjoy this “Beautiful Life” I am always grateful for the supportive people in my life, and that God has been my life tutor and guide.
We now make our home on the shores of beautiful St. Joseph Island, in Northern Ontario at the hub of the Great Lakes.
