Impressionistic Fibre and Textile Artist
Painting landscapes and florals through the tactile lens of fibre, and stitch using textile manipulation and embellishment with paint.
My life, like my art, has been constantly changing, colourful, textured and full of joy! It’s about appreciation and gratitude. I am so grateful to have lived most of my life on islands. From this vantage point, I have had a front row seat in the gallery that surrounds me; ever-changing skies, moving water and the landscapes they inform.
My Mediums
Textile Acrylic Collage
Dazzling Splendor
As a textile artist I work with dyed fabrics to create richly coloured textured collage paintings using a variety of textiles. Acrylic paint is applied to enhance the painting. Raw edges and loose threads are left to add textural appeal and create exciting movement.
Wool & Fibre and Stitch Paintings
Coat of Many Colours
This form of painting satisfies my thirst for vibrant colours and textures. Using combinations of fibers in a painterly way, much as I do with textiles, playing with the placement of coloured fibres and continuing that story with stitch until the results capture intense texture and vibrant colour of the landscapes that surround me.
My Journey
Over the years a desire to create fine art with textiles surfaced. Through this medium I endeavour to create art that will bring a sense of joyful hope or quiet peace to the viewer.
As I enjoy this beautiful life I am grateful for the supportive people in my life and that God, my Father, has been my life tutor and guide.
My husband and I now make our home on beautiful St Joseph Island, Canada at the hub of the Great Lakes.
